Active People --
M.A.P. Initiative
The
MAP Initiative was developed to respond to the growing obesity/overweight
epidemic by promoting an increase in physical activity among the residents
of the SSJCF funding region.
While
all grants funded under this initiative must address sedentary lifestyles,
we realize that promoting good nutrition and healthy eating is a critical
component.
Therefore, we encourage applicants to address this element as part
of the proposal or through collaboration with other organizations or
concurrent projects.
The
SSJCF provides both program support to further this Initiative as well as
grants for collaborative projects operative in the SSJCF funding area and
characterized by the following:
|
|
Demonstrated
need for the specific project; Implementation
plan based on strategies that have been shown to be effective;
|
|
|
High
level of collaboration with other pertinent local and state
efforts/programs; |
|
|
Convincing
documentation that the project is integrated into
a broader community effort and commitment to increasing
physical activity and healthier lifestyles; |
|
|
A
means of measuring effectiveness which is proportional to the scope
of the project. |
